Key Highlights of Version 4.0
- All intake surveys have been updated to align with the 2026 HUD Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Data Standards.
- HUD-compliant reporting for Annual Performance Reports and ESG CAPER Reports.
- To support Federal reporting requirements, all HMIS data gathered with Show The Way is sent to HomelessData.com on a nightly basis. The ability for HomelessData.com to produce valid HUD Annual Performance Reports (APRs) has been validated through the HUD Vendor Test Site SAGE (see here). This validation process required importing test data from HUD, running it through our export routine, and confirming that the output matches the input. Show The Way users can opt for additional features found within HomelessData.com, including:
- By-Name Lists
- Data Quality Monitoring Tools
- Performance Evaluation Scorecards
- Performance Evaluation Dashboards
- No more double data entry! Show The Way Administrators can export a zip file of all data in the HUD CSV format so the data can be imported into your local HMIS.
- A true split between the features and functionality found within the Show The Way app and the Regional Command Center. The target audience for the app is frontline staff, and the Command Center is designed for the day-to-day management of all homeless operations.
Within this major release, there are also a slew of updates focused on improving the usability of both the app and the Command Center. This work also sets the foundation for new features and functionality to be coming soon.
Noteworthy Updates for the Show The Way App
For First Responders
- List of historical client interactions is no longer visible for users with the First Responder role, providing greater protections for client data.
For Outreach Users
- In the mobile app, requests, client interaction histories, client services records, and encampment requests have changed from having a grid view to being card lists. This makes them significantly easier to view at a glance.
- The new Cards also feature significantly more information viewable at-a-glance without having to open them
- Filtering for cards in the different lists is much more intuitive and user-friendly.
- The map for Encampments has moved to a new tab at the bottom, providing more room for both the Encampment Profile and the map itself.
- Encampments now have detailed assessments with configurable Camp Profile elements including: Location Characteristics, Community Safety, Vulnerability of Population, Environmental Health, Camp Safety, and more
Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Fields that ask for dates no longer require scrolling. All date fields are now manual entry in the format of MM/DD/YYYY.
Major Bug Fixes
- An issue that was preventing clients from being exited has been resolved.
